1. Does the TFC have a permanent fashion exhibition?
Fashion on Main was open September 2006 through December 2012. The UNT College of Visual Arts and Design has expanded the space and it will operate under the auspices of the UNT Galleries as UNT ArtSpace Dallas.
2. What if I want to see the collection in storage?
Please call or make an appointment at least one month in advance. It takes about one hour to show around a small group of 4-6 people. Parking is available at the North Texas visitor garage and the Highland parking garage.
3. What about bringing a group to see the TFC in storage?
We often host student groups, but request that this appointment to be set up two months in advance. Times have to work with scheduled classes in the resource room. The capacity is 40 and the tour will be split into two groups. It takes 1/2 to 2 hours to host a large group. There is no charge for student groups.
For a basic tour of a non-student group, a $5 per person charge is requested. This fee is a donation to a fund that supports the conservation and storage of the TFC. Other groups, such as the Embroiderers Guild of America, often request tours based on special interests.
4. Can groups or individuals take photographs in the TFC?
Photography is permitted as long it is for personal use and not to be published in any format. View copyright information here.
5. What about lectures and programs off campus?
Curator and Director Myra Walker is available for lectures about various fashion related topics in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The honorarium fee is $500. For lectures that include travel, all expenses related to travel will be in addition to the lecture fee. Workshops on selected topics are available for a half day ($350) and whole day ($700) plus any travel expenses.
6. Can I make an individual research appointment?
Yes, you should e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 940-565-2732 for an appointment at least one month in advance. View staff contact information here. It is suggested that you do preliminary research at the TFC Digital Library to make sure that the TFC has examples available in your subject area. Please limit your request to 5 pieces to be viewed per appointment.
